TIEMM 2027 will be held at the Grand Club of Kavala (Grand Club of Kavala), a historic and elegant venue located in the heart of Kavala, near the City Hall. The venue offers modern conference facilities in a distinguished setting, easily accessible from hotels and transport links in the city centre.

Kavala is one of the most beautiful and historically rich cities in Northern Greece. Built amphitheatrically around a natural harbour and dominated by its Byzantine Castle, the city has been inhabited for over 2,500 years.

Kavala is famous for the nearby ancient city of Philippoi — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and the Philippoi Festival, one of the most important cultural events in Greece. The city offers excellent cuisine, a vibrant promenade and warm hospitality.

Weather in July: Warm Mediterranean summer, average temperatures 28–32°C, minimal rainfall.

By Air

The nearest airport is Kavala International Airport "Alexander the Great" (KVA), located approximately 30 km from the city centre. It receives direct flights from several European cities, especially during summer. Taxis and car rental services are available at the airport.

Alternatively, Thessaloniki Airport "Makedonia" (SKG) is approximately 160 km from Kavala and is served by a larger number of international airlines. Regular bus and taxi connections to Kavala are available.

By Road

Kavala is connected to the E90 / A2 Egnatia Motorway, which runs across Northern Greece.

By Rail / Bus

KTEL intercity bus services connect Kavala with Thessaloniki, Athens and other Greek cities. The Kavala bus terminal is centrally located.

The organizing committee has negotiated special rates at selected hotels in Kavala for TIEMM 2027 participants. Details and booking instructions will be published here as soon as arrangements are confirmed.

• Welcome Reception — Evening of 30 June 2027. Venue to be announced.
• Conference Gala Dinner — Evening of 1 July 2027. Traditional Greek cuisine. Included in registration fee.
• Guided City Tour — Optional tour of Kavala historic centre (Byzantine Castle, Imaret, harbour). Details to follow.
• Excursion to Philippoi — Optional half-day visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Details to follow.

Greece is a member of the European Union and part of the Schengen Area. Citizens of EU/EEA countries do not need a visa to enter Greece. Citizens of other countries should check the entry requirements applicable to their nationality.

Authors requiring a visa invitation letter should contact tiem@physics.duth.gr well in advance. Invitation letters are issued only after acceptance of the paper and payment of the registration fee.
